Vol. 449 No. 5

Written Answers. - Refugee Status Application.

Ray Burke

Ceist:

90 Mr. R. Burke asked the Minister for Justice if she will ensure that a Chinese national (details supplied) who is a political refugee as a result of the events relating to Tiananmen Square is permitted to remain in the country. [4117/95]

It is not the practice to comment publicly on individual applications for refugee status having regard to the fact that applications by their nature are made in confidence, with an expectation by applicants that such confidence will be preserved. However, the person to whom the details supplied by the Deputy refer has not applied for political asylum in the State.
