FÁS is involved with training for people in employment through the apprenticeship system and the training support scheme — TSS — which provides grants to small and medium sized enterprises in respect of training provided for their employees. In addition, sectoral studies are undertaken from time to time.
Total direct expenditure by FÁS on these activities including Exchequer and European Social Fund assistance over the years 1992 to 1995 is as follows:
