Vol. 450 No. 3

Written Answers. - Dublin South Water Supply.

Chris Flood

Ceist:

61 Mr. Flood asked the Minister for the Environment the action, if any, he intends to take to deal with the inadequate water supply in the South Dublin County Council area; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5072/95]

The management and operation of water services in south Dublin, including maintainance of supplies and pressures, is the responsibility of South Dublin County Council, in co-operation with Dublin Corporation which produces virtually all of the area's public water supplies.

As indicated in reply to Question No. 97 of 21 February 1995, a major strategic study of water requirements in the Dublin region has been commissioned by my Department and is expected to be substantially completed this year. Further major investment proposals, such as the proposed expansion of capacity at the Ballymore Eustace plant, will be considered in light of this study.
