Vol. 451 No. 7

Written Answers. - Radiotherapy Services.

Noel Treacy

Ceist:

23 Mr. N. Treacy asked the Minister for Health if he will provide radiotherapy services in Galway to ensure comprehensive cancer treatment for patients. [7017/95]

, Limerick East): The position is that no formal proposal has been received in my Department from the Western Health Board regarding the provision of radiotherapy services in Galway. However, as the Deputy will be aware, the issue of cancer services is under review within my Department, and I will be looking at the desirability of providing radiotherapy services in Galway in the context of cancer service developments.

Radiotherapy services for patients from the Western Health Board area are currently provided at St. Luke's and St. Anne's Hospitals in Dublin. In addition, regular out-patient clinics for cancer patients are held in University College Hospital, Galway, Ballinasloe, Ballina and in Castlebar.
