Vol. 451 No. 7

Written Answers. - Immunisation Policy.

Tom Moffatt

Ceist:

30 Dr. Moffatt asked the Minister for Health when he will announce a co-ordinated national policy on immunisation to replace the present fragmented service which fails to recognise the general practitioner as the primary provider of such a service; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6996/95]

, Limerick East): The Review Group on Primary Childhood Immunisation recognised that the general practitioner was ideally placed to deliver the primary childhood immunisation programme.

Discussions are taking place with the Irish Medical Organisation regarding the terms on which such a programme can be provided by general practitioners. I am not yet in a position to make an announcement about the implementation of the programme.
