32 Mr. Molloy asked the Minister for Health if the Medical Council has sought funding from his Department to meet the cost of the Beaumont neurosurgery inquiries and the High Court case; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7061/95]

, Limerick East): The Medical Council is a self-funding, self-regulating and independent body.

There are no funds at my disposal and indeed there is no statutory provision for the Minister for Health to meet expenses incurred by the Medical Council.
