Ceist:

88 Mr. M. Smith asked the Minister for Education if she will refrain from deploying teachers at second level schools in Roscrea, County Tipperary, pending the completion of the project of amalgamation in view of the effect these decisions will have on the quality of teaching in the schools and the ability to provide a wide range of leaving certificate courses. My Department has already agreed, following representations from the schools involved, that a number of teachers scheduled for redeployment be retained.

Should the three schools involved introduce a scheme for co-operation for the sharing of resources in anticipation of the proposed amalgamation, my Department would be prepared to review the situation again.
