Vol. 452 No. 3

Written Answers. - Treatment of Sewage Problem.

Síle de Valera

Ceist:

99 Miss de Valera asked the Minister for the Environment if he intends to make moneys available to deal with the sewage problem in Ballyvaughan which has been an ongoing problem for many years and which could have a negative impact on tourism. [7895/95]

Clare County Council have proposed the construction of new and improved waste water treatment facilities at nine locations in the Burren and North Clare region, including Ballyvaughan, at an estimated cost of £19.25 million. My Department has sought Cohesion Fund assistance for these proposals in the context of an integrated application for water and waste water projects for the region. It would be the intention to advance individual projects as soon as the application is determined.
