203 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a person (details supplied) in County Limerick will be compensated for quota surrendered to his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8670/95]
It is assumed that the Deputy is referring to an application by the person named to his milk purchaser to participate in the 1995 milk quota restructuring scheme.
Milk quota surrendered under a restructuring scheme is made available to other suppliers within the same cooperative/dairy area at a similar price to that paid to the outgoing producer. The details of this year's scheme have not yet been finalised because of negotiations with the EU Commission with a view to making the eligibility criteria for this year's scheme more suitable to Irish conditions. I will announce detailed arrangements for the resale of the restructured quota as soon as these negotiations are finalised.
