Vol. 452 No. 8

Written Answers. - Clerical Officer Appointments.

Matt Brennan

Ceist:

102 Mr. M. Brennan asked the Minister for Finance when it is intended to offer promotion to the grade of clerical officer in the Civil Service; and the number that will be promoted. [8898/95]

Clerical officer appointments may be made from panels set up following confined competition by the Civil Service Commissioners or separately through a scheme of direct promotion within Departments. As regards the most recent confined competition the Civil Service Commissioners have so far called 302 candidates for competitive interview. Of those successful at all stages of the competition 106 candidates have been offered an appointment to date. It is not possible to foresee the number of appointments that may be made from the competition.
