Vol. 454 No. 3

Written Answers. - Flood Relief Scheme.

Joe Walsh

Ceist:

89 Mr. J. Walsh asked the Minister for Finance if he will sanction an allocation of money for a flood relief scheme for Clonakilty, County Cork; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10650/95]

The Arterial Drainage (Amendment) (No. 2) Bill, 1995, which was passed recently by Seanad Éireann and is at present before the Dáil, will empower the Commissioners of Public Works to undertake flood relief schemes to relieve localised flooding. Clonakilty will be considered, with other areas which are subject to such flooding for inclusion on the priority list of flood relief schemes to be drawn up after the passing of this legislation. The question of allocating moneys for such a scheme at this stage does not arise.
