Vol. 454 No. 3

Written Answers. - Health Services.

Helen Keogh

Ceist:

104 Ms Keogh asked the Minister for Health the status of the proposed health centre and in-patient bed unit for the elderly in Dalkey, County Dublin; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10585/95]

Limerick East): The Eastern Health Board has recently carried out a review of services for the elderly in its catchment area. This review prioritises proposed service developments for the elderly over a four year period having considered the demographic situation and identified the needs of the elderly population.

The board has already agreed a capital programme with my Department for the years 1994-97. Included in this programme is a medium term plan for the provision of a number of small scale community units including day units for the elderly on sites strategically located throughout the board's area. While there is no specific plan for a community unit and health centre for the elderly in Dalkey, a unit which is planned for Dún Laoghaire will cater for a catchment area which includes the Dalkey area.
