Vol. 454 No. 3

Written Answers. - Life Skills Programme.

Declan Bree

Ceist:

131 Mr. Bree asked the Minister for Education if she has satisfied herself with the life skills programme in Glenties Comprehensive School. County Donegal; if the complaint regarding the programme which was submitted to her on 16 February 1995 has been investigated; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [10666/95]

I have had this matter investigated by my Department. I am satisfied with the life skills programme in Glenties Comprehensive school, County Donegal. This programme has been offered under the aegis of the North-Western Health Board for the past 12-13 years. It has been well accepted and almost all the second level schools in Donegal, Sligo and Leitrim are using the programme.

Relationships and sexuality education, which has been incorporated in the programme over the past number of years, is a significant component of the life skills programme which is delivered over the whole period of second level education. Glenties Comprehensive school has been involved in all aspects of the development of the life skills programme.
