Vol. 454 No. 5

Written Answers. - County Waterford Company.

Austin Deasy

Ceist:

31 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the steps, if any, he will take to safeguard the jobs at a company (details supplied) in County Waterford which has the capacity for significant job creation. [11003/95]

I assure the Deputy that Forbairt is working closely with the company in question in reviewing the potential for its future development. That is a day-to-day responsibility of Forbairt under their legislative remit, and not something in which I have a role. However, I am fully confident that this matter is being dealt with by Forbairt in a correct and efficient manner.

The Deputy must appreciate that negotiations between Forbairt and the company are not a matter for me. They are confidential and any discussion of them here would be totally inappropriate. Nevertheless, I can assure the Deputy that if a viable business proposal exists no effort will be spared by Forbairt to safeguard jobs at the plant and assist the company's future development.
