Vol. 454 No. 5

Written Answers. - Mooring Application.

Seamus Brennan

Ceist:

67 Mr. S. Brennan asked the Minister for the Marine his views on the request for a mooring at Dún Laoghaire harbour by a person (details supplied) in Dublin 14; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the applicant has been consistently seeking a mooring for over five years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11061/95]

The Dún Laoghaire Harbour Management is proceeding with the introduction, on a trial basis initially, of a fore and aft mooring regime in the Old Harbour, Dún Laoghaire Harbour, for the current sailing season thereby increasing, for the first time in many many years, the number of moorings avialable.

Advertisements were placed in the national media at the beginning of May 1995 inviting applications for the moorings to be created as a result of this initiative for craft of upt to 5.5 metres. Those interested in obtaining a mooring were required to submit an application to the Harbour Master by 22 May 1995. Those who had already made applications in the past were asked to reconfirm their interest on this occasion given the size and nature of the moorings available.

The named applicant did not make an application at that time but if he submits relevant details of his craft to the Harbour Master it may be possible to accommodate him in the new fore and aft trial mooring regime.

The names of all applicants for moorings are held on file pending the availability of an appropriate mooring which is allocated on a first come first served basis.
