Vol. 455 No. 1

Written Answers. - Washington Conference Travel Costs.

Bertie Ahern

Ceist:

36 Mr. B. Ahern asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs if he will urge the British Government to reimburse fully the expenses of community workers from deprived inner city areas of Northern Ireland who travelled to the Washington Conference. [9286/95]

The question of subsidisation of the costs of Northern Ireland community workers who attended the recent Washington Conference is a matter for the Northern Ireland authorities.

I am informed that grants of £500 sterling each were made available by the British Government through the Department of Economic Development to representatives of voluntary groups to help defray the costs of their participation in the Conference.
