168 Mr. Cowen asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the date the Leader II nation-wide proposals were approved by the EU Commission; the date projects were invited by public advertisement from Leader groups; and the date of final announcement of allocations to individual Leader groups. My Department's operational programme for the implementation of Leader II in Ireland was approved by the European Commission on 29 March 1995. The newspaper advertisement inviting interested groups to apply for Leader II appeared on 30 June 1994. The selection of Leader groups, with their indicative financial allocations, was announced on 2 May 1995.
