Helen Keogh

Ceist:

26 Ms Keogh asked the Minister for Finance the plans, if any, he has to study the integration of income tax, employee PRSI and levies; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11927/95]

Mary Harney

Ceist:

39 Miss Harney asked the Minister for Finance the plans, if any, he has to study the integration of income tax, employee PRSI and levies; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11924/95]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 26 and 39 together. As Deputies may be aware an Expert Working Group on the Integration of the Tax and Social Welfare Systems has been established by the Minister of State at the Department of Social Welfare. This group are, inter alia, looking at the very complex issue of the greater co-ordination/integration of income tax, PRSI and levies. The group will be submitting its final report before the end of the year. I will give careful consideration to the Expert Working Group's recommendations in this area when its report is produced.
