Vol. 455 No. 2

Written Answers. - Deposit Interest Retention Tax.

Ivor Callely

Ceist:

102 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Finance if he has received submissions for the abolition of deposit interest retention tax; the views, if any, he has on this matter; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11958/95]

I have received no submissions calling for the abolition of Deposit Interest Retention Tax (DIRT). I refer the Deputy to my reply to him of 24 May last outlining that DIRT is an efficient and effective tax which currently yields over £100 million annually and that I have no plans to abolish it.
