Seán Haughey

Ceist:

80 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for the Environment if he will appoint a representative of the Association of Artists in Ireland, a representative organisation for professional visual artists, to the steering committee established in 1994 to review public art and the Per Cent for Art schemes run by the Department of the Environment; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12495/95]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 78, 79 and 80 together. The public art project referred to is an initiative by some of the principal public bodies involved in public capital expenditure, with support from the Arts Council, to better implement public art projects. To this end the steering group have engaged consultants to produce a report on the subject. In recognition of their role and practical experience of the Per Cent for Art schemes the Association of Artists in Ireland have been invited to make a presentation to the steering gGroup. I am satisfied that this arrangement will secure satisfactory completion of the project.
