Vol. 457 No. 1

Written Answers. - Equal Treatment Arrears.

Pat Gallagher

Ceist:

154 Mr. Gallagher (Laoighis-Offaly) asked the Minister for Social Welfare if a person (details supplied) in County Offaly will be entitled to transitional payment of the equal treatment arrears from his Department. [15086/95]

Under the arrangements for retrospective equal treatment payments introduced this year, married women who were in receipt of social welfare payments in certain cases, are also entitled to transitional payments. However, in order to qualify for transitionial payments a claimant must have been receiving a social welfare payment in November 1986.

The person concerned is not entitled to transitional payments as the files in the Department of Social Welfare do not show that she was receiving a social welfare payment in November 1986.
