Vol. 457 No. 1

Written Answers. - Letterfrack (Galway) Quay.

Robert Molloy

Ceist:

59 Mr. Molloy asked the Minister for the Marine if he has received a request from Galway County Council to include the construction of a low-water landing place in the improvement works currently being undertaken at Derryinver Quay, Letterfrack. County Galway; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14853/95]

The Derryinver Quay Development Group have proposed an extension to the existing quay to provide a deepwater all-tide landing facility or a floating jetty with adjustable stairway access. The group has forwarded these proposals to the Department of the Marine and also to Galway County Council.

The council has requested the Department's observations on the proposals.
The proposals are being examined by the Department's engineers and the necessary hydrographic and land surveys required for designing the deepwater landing facility are currently being undertaken. Future decisions will depend on the results of those surveys, costings, available funding and in consultation with Galway County Council.
