Vol. 457 No. 1

Written Answers. - Insurance Cover.

Tony Gregory

Ceist:

90 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Health if his Department will ensure that the necessary funding for an implantable cardioverter defribillator is made available for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 3 in order that the Mater Hospital may proceed with the necessary medical procedure. [14934/95]

Seán Haughey

Ceist:

92 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Health if he will consult with the VHI to ensure that a person (details supplied) in Dublin 3 receives insurance cover for an implantable cardioverter defribillator, which is a life saving device that he had fitted recently; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15005/95]

Limerick East): I propose to take Questions Nos. 90 and 92 together.

The determination of insurance cover in regard to individual VHI subscribers is primarily a matter for the VHI board. However, I have been advised by the VHI that payment is this case has been approved and the individual in question has been notified.
