Vol. 457 No. 1

Written Answers. - Treatment for Heroin Addiction.

Tony Gregory

Ceist:

93 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Health the assistance, if any, his Department can give to a person (details supplied) in Dublin 1 in view of the fact that his parents have sought treatment for him for his heroin addiction and suicidal state and have been unable to get help. [15009/95]

Limerick East): As the Deputy will be aware the provision of services for drug misusers in Dublin is a matter for the Eastern Health Board in the first instance.

My Department has been in contact with the drug treatment centre board, Trinity Court, regarding the person in question. I understand that this person was seen by the medical staff in Trinity Court on Tuesday, 10 October 1995 who confirmed the urgency of the case. The patient was immediately referred to St. Vincent's Hospital, Fairview, Dublin 3 for appropriate treatment. I am also given to understand that further treatment will be given by Trinity Court when the patient's condition becomes stabilised.
