Vol. 457 No. 1

Written Answers. - St. Ita's Hospital, Portrane.

Tom Moffatt

Ceist:

97 Dr. Moffatt asked the Minister for Health the discrete allocation that has been made to service for mentally handicapped in St. Ita's Hospital, Portrane, County Dublin, excluding the service given outside the campus, in each of the years from 1990 to date in 1995. [15019/95]

The information as requested by the Deputy is as follows:

Year

Mental Handicap Population on Hospital Campus

£m

1990

423

6.937

1991

413

8.146

1992

1995 (8 months)

I draw the Deputy's attention to the fact that as the number of people in residential care on the campus has been reduced in line with the development of alternative community facilities, there has been a significant improvement in theper capita expenditure for the remaining clients over the period 1990 to 1995.
