Vol. 457 No. 6

Written Answers. - Sale of County Louth Hospital.

Liz O'Donnell

Ceist:

62 Ms O'Donnell asked the Minister for Health the status of the current negotiations on the sale to the State of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, County Louth; the person who will appoint the new board of management when the hospital is sold; the plans, if any, he has to create a voluntary hospital, with a board of management appointed fully by him; if so, if the North Eastern Health Board will have representatives on the new board of the hospital; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15894/95]

Limerick East): The negotiations in regard to the purchase of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital are at an advanced stage.

It is envisaged that the ownership and management of the hospital will be transferred from the Congregation of the Medical Missionaries of Mary to a corporate body to be established under the Health Corporate Bodies Act, 1961. As Minister for Health, I will be appointing all the members of the board of the new corporate body which will include representation from the North Eastern Health Board.
