Vol. 457 No. 6

Written Answers. - National Lottery Funding.

Ivor Callely

Ceist:

72 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the amount of national lottery funding available to the arts in 1995; the additional programmes and development from such funding; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15837/95]

I would refer the Deputy to Appendix I of the 1995 Revised Estimates for Public Services. A total of £3.81 million from the national lottery has been allocated to Subhead C1 of my Department's Vote for 1995 in respect of grant-in-aid for the following cultural institutions: the National Concert Hall, the Irish Museum of Modern Art, the National Museum, the National Library, the National Archives, the National Archives Advisory Council and the Chester Beatty Library.

The total amount of national lottery funding available to An Comhairle Ealaíon through Vote 44 for promoting and financing the arts in 1995 is £3.707 million. These moneys form part of the total allocation of £16.25 million to An Chomhairle Ealaíon for 1995. An Chomhairle Ealaíon does not distinguish between national lottery and Exchequer funds when it is awarding grants allocation.

A sum of £245,000 in national lottery funds has been provided in Vote 43 for the National Gallery of Ireland for acquisitions and conservation.
