Vol. 457 No. 8

Written Answers. - Recreational Facilities Scheme.

Liam Aylward

Ceist:

57 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Education the new projects, if any, that have been approved by her under the recreational facilities scheme in 1995; if so, the name and details of each individual project approved and the criteria adopted for their approval. [16214/95]

The following projects were approved for funding by my Department in 1995 under the recreational facilities scheme: Baltinglass GAA Club, County Wicklow, £10,000 for a clubhouse and dressing rooms; St. Saviour's Hurling & Football Club, Ballybeg, Waterford, £20,000 for completion of a community centre and dressing rooms; Leeds United Football Club, Cork, £17,500 for dressing rooms and Glenmore Community Centre Committee, County Kilkenny, £10,000 for completion of the community centre.

These grants were allocated subject to the terms and conditions of the recreational facilities scheme. The criteria used for these allocations includes the priority and the need for the proposed improvement-facility in relation to the organisation's existing facilities; the availability of similar facilities in the area and the ability of the organisation to undertake the project, particularly in relation to the amount of local funds available.
