92 Ms O'Donnell asked the Minister for Health whether he has requested the Medical Council to indicate whether allegations were made to it in the past relating to the consultant at the centre of the sexual abuse controversy at Drogheda Hospital, County Louth; if so, the number of complaints which were made to the Medical Council about this consultant; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Minister for Health (Mr. Noonan,

Limerick East): I have requested the Medical Council to inform me of any complaints made to them against the consultant concerned. The council is considering my request as a matter of urgency. The council has to have regard to the legal restrains imposed upon it in its consideration of such complaints.
