103 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Equality and Law Reform if he will give a breakdown of the number of personnel in his Department and private firms contracted for public relations-media advice; the names and costs paid to private firms and consultants; the total cost incurred since his appointment; the total cost incurred by the Minister of State at his Department; if this expenditure went out for tender; and if he will make a statement on the matter. At present, one person is employed in my Department on an eight-week contract as press assistant in connection with the divorce referendum at a salary cost for the period of approximately £2,900.
The contract for the Government's information programme on divorce was awarded to Quinn, McDonnell, Pattison Ltd. — QMP — they were appointed following a tendering procedure in which they were the lowest tenderer. No payments have been made to date on foot of this contract. The cost will be in the region of £41,000.
