Written Answers. - Cabinet Leaks.
Two investigations, initiated by the Secretary of my Department, are currently being carried out in relation to the suspected leaking of information. One concerns the 1996 budget and is being carried out by the Garda; the other concerns the report of the Committee on Ministerial Transport and is being carried out by my Department. I have no evidence to suggest that either of these leaks emanated from the Cabinet or otherwise.
The suspected leak relating to the 1996 budget was reported by the Secretary of my Department to the Garda as there was evidence that a specific identifiable document may have been leaked.
