Vol. 459 No. 1

Written Answers. - Dublin Zoo Development Plan.

Trevor Sargent

Ceist:

51 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Finance if his attention has been drawn to the delays being experienced in the implementation of the Dublin Zoo development plan, particularly the planning refusal for the new rhino enclosure; and if he is concerned that the cost of the development plan, which is already costing the taxpayer £15 million will spiral out of control and become a huge waste of money. [15317/95]

The implementation of the development plan for Dublin Zoo has been adjusted to take account of resource constraints. Planning permission requirements, including the possibility of third party appeals to An Bord Pleanála on aspects of the project, have been built into the overall revised programme.

Expenditure of £15 million approved over a ten-year period is being closely monitored and the Deputy should rest assured that the implementation of the development plan will be completed on time and within budget.
