23 Ms O'Donnell asked the Minister for Education if she has satisfied herself that the correct procedures were adhered to in the recent appointment of a school attendant to a school (details supplied) in County Westmeath; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [18765/95]
The filling of maintenance posts in the vocational education sector is a matter for vocational education committees. I have no direct function in the matter.
I have been advised by County Westmeath Vocational Education Committee that, to date, no appointment of a school attendant has been made to Castlepollard vocational school. However, my Department has been assured by the vocational education committee that existing procedures have been and were adhered to in the selection process. I am also informed that the recommendation of the selection board is due for consideration by the vocational education committee at its next meeting, which is scheduled for 19 December 1995.
If the Deputy has specific concerns in this matter I would be happy to raise them with the vocational education committee.
