Vol. 460 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - Gulliver Operations.

Peadar Clohessy

Ceist:

32 Mr. Clohessy asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade the current position regarding the future operations of Gulliver, the electronic tourist information and reservations system. [1480/96]

The Gulliver reservation system has been developed by Bord Fáilte, on a joint basis with the Northern Ireland Tourist Board, as part of their day to day ongoing marketing activities. However, as I indicated in my replies to questions on 14 June and 14 December last, the Arthur D. Little consultants, as part of their overall review of Bord Fáilte, examined the operation of this system.

I understand that Bord Fáilte, in conjunction with its colleagues in the Northern Ireland Tourist Board, have since been involved in asessing how the system could be reconfigured, particularly in the light of Arthur D. Little's conclusions. The two tourist boards are currently participating in a steering group comprising interested parties, North and South, which is actively progressing this work.
