Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 20 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Ring — the need to provide school transport for persons (details supplied) attending Lacken Cross School, County Mayo; (2) Deputy Ó Cuív — an gá atá ann go gcuirfear ar ceal na leasuithe a rinneadh ar na coinníollacha a bhaineann le Scéim Feabhsúcháin Thithe agus Scéim na mBóithre Áise na Roinne Ealaíon, Cultúir agus Gaeltachta; (3) Deputy O'Dea — the need to revise the system of allocation of the proceeds of the national lottery and to ensure that an adequate proportion of such funding is directed towards sport; (4) Deputy Batt O'Keeffe — the effect of the lack of public indemnity insurance on work experience for transition and PLC students in community and comprehensive schools; (5) Deputy Frances Fitzgerald — the findings of a recent television programme (details supplied) on the ill-treatment of children in orphanages in China; (6) Deputy Shortall — the need for a public awareness campaign on the dangers of ecstasy; (7) Deputy Molloy — the difficulties caused for a person (details supplied) in County Galway who has had to abandon his university studies as a result of an anomaly arising from changes in the higher education grants scheme in 1993; (8) Deputy Callely — the question of introducing birching, flogging or other forms of corporal punishment for those convicted of certain offences; (9) Deputy Coughlan — the approval of stages II and III of phase IV of the capital development of the Abbey Vocational School, Donegal Town, and (10) Deputy Cowen — the payment in advance of £600,000 to staff at the Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry.

The matters raised by Deputies O'Dea, Molloy, Coughlan and Cowen have been selected for discussion.
