Vol. 460 No. 6

Written Answers. - Transport Service.

Michael Smith

Ceist:

121 Mr. M. Smith asked the Minister for Health if he will restore a transport service to individuals and groups who cannot afford to provide their own transport while attending hospital clinics. [1728/96]

Limerick East): The provision of a transport service for patients attending hospital clinics is a matter for each individual health board. Under the Health Act, 1970, the health boards make whatever arrangements are considered necessary for the transport of patients, depending on the circumstances of the person concerned, the resources available to the boards and the many competing demands being made on these resources.
