Vol. 460 No. 8

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 20 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Shortall — the need for a public awareness campaign on the dangers of ecstasy; (2) Deputy Callely — the question of introducing birching, flogging or other forms of corporal punishment for those convicted of certain offences; (3) Deputy Eric Byrne — the need to introduce statutory guidelines on solicitors advertising in the event that guidelines promised by the Law Society are not published and implemented by the end of March 1996; (4) Deputy Séamus Brennan — the need to give an assurance to consumers that the current public controversy involving the travel trade will not leave thousands of Irish holiday makers stranded; (5) Deputy O'Rourke — when the special payments which were promised to Army personnel prior to their service in Rwanda will be honoured.

The matters raised by the following have been selected for discussion; Deputies Shortall, Eric Byrne, Séamus Brennan and O'Rourke.
