Ceist:

251 Mr. O'Donoghue asked the Minister for Justice the reviews, studies task forces, ad hoc inquiries and consultancy reports, if any, being currently undertaken by her Department; the cost of each report; the date of publication; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [3857/96]

In my answer to this question, the Deputy will appreciate that I have not included material in relation to reviews undertaken on an ongoing basis on all aspects of my Department's responsibilities which form part of the normal work of my Department's civil servants and which would not be due for publication.

The following is the position in relation to reviews, studies, reports etc. by Interdepartmental committees, working groups, consultants etc., which are currently under way in relation to my Department:

Working Group on Security of Tenure set up to examine and report on the provision of security of tenure in the private rented sector, with particular reference to any changes which may be desirable to the provisions of the Landlord and Tenant (Amendment) Act, 1980 — Established in 1994.

Working Group on a Courts Commission to report to the Minister on their review of the operation of the Courts system having regard to the level and quality of service provided to the public, staffing, information technology etc, the financing of the Courts system, including the current relationship between the Courts, the Department of Justice and the Oireachtas in this regard and any other aspect of the Court system which the Group considers appropriate; to consider and report to the Minister on the matter of the establishment of a Commission on the Management of the Courts as an independent and permanent body with financial and management autonomy — Established in 1995.

Steering Committee on Audio and Audio-Video recording of Garda interviews with suspects — Established in March 1993.

Inter-Departmental Group on Air Support for the Garda Síochána set up to determine how best to provide the Garda Síochána with the most effective air support — Established in 1995.

Inter-Departmental Committee on Non-Nationals. This Committee has issued one report which formed the basis of the Refugee Bill currently before the Oireachtas. The Committee's other work relates to wider issues of policy in regard to non-nationals in the State generally — Established in 1994.

No additional costs as all members are Civil Servants.

It is not possible to indi-cate when the Com-mittee will make its final report.

A study of Irish Female Prisoners undertaken by the Department of Justice — Commenced in 1994.
