Written Answers. - Higher Education Grant.
The 1991 higher education grants scheme adopted under the provisions of the 1968 Local Authorities (Higher Education Grants) Act is the only scheme which is applicable in the case of the student referred to by the Deputy as she entered third level education in 1991. Under the terms of that scheme the student is ineligible for the award of a higher education grant. She is also ineligible under the terms of the free fees initiative as she is pursuing a postgraduate course. The initiative is confined to full-time undergraduate studies.
