109 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications if he will report on the revised CIE pension scheme which has been agreed between the company and the unions and which was referred to the Government some time ago; when he intends to sanction the scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. CIE were obliged to advertise the amendments to the wages grade pension scheme, as required by statute, and to allow a 28 day period for objections to be lodged. This period expired on 19 February 1996 and a number of objections have been received. These objections must now be considered prior to making a decision on amending the scheme.
