177 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Education if she will give approval to the request from St. Mary's secondary school, Holy Faith Convent, Glasnevin, Dublin 11, for the construction of a permanent extension of four classrooms to replace St. Ann's prefab building which is 23 years old and in a dangerous state of repair; and if she will make a statment on the matter. An application for the construction of a permanent extension of four classrooms at St. Mary's secondary school was submitted recently to my Department.

The present position is that officials from the planning and building unit are currently considering this application in terms of enrolment, future viability and cost implications.

The school authorities will be notified when a decision has been reached.
