205 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Justice if arrangements have been completed to issue a land certificate to a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim in respect of folio number 14946 County Roscommon as promised on 6 February 1996. [5641/96]
I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this application for the issue of a duplicate land certificate was lodged on 12 January 1996. On 4 March 1996 notices, required by the Land Registration Rules, 1972, were served by the Land Registry on the Banks Standing Committee and on Roscommon County Council and a response to these notices is awaited.
I would like to make the Deputy aware that I have been informed by the registrar that an application for the issue of a duplicate land certificate to replace a land certificate which has been lost or misplaced etc. involves lengthy inquiries, including advertisements endeavouring to locate the original certificate, and can therefore take a considerable time to process.
