Vol. 462 No. 8

Written Answers. - Integrated Marketing Approach.

Batt O'Keeffe

Ceist:

229 Mr. B. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade what efforts, if any, that are being made to adopt an integrated approach to the marketing of Ireland by the State agencies. [5755/96]

The Foreign Earnings Committee, which I chair and on which the relevant Government Departments and State promotional agencies are represented, monitors their combined efforts to ensure that agencies, where possible, avail of the opportunities to maximise the potential for co-ordination and co-operation in their promotional and marketing activities.

Some of the specific issues which have been addressed by the committee include maximising cost-effectivenss through the sharing of offices by agencies in the markets. The committee has also discussed the development and promotion of Ireland's image overseas and the possibilities for joint campaigns.

The committee will continue to maintain its focus on the development of measures to secure the best possible collective return on the resources allocated to overseas promotion of Ireland's economic and business interests.
