236 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the reason staff in Forbairt who have Civil Service conditions and salaries do not have the same superannuation entitlements; and if in relation to the early retirement scheme being discussed in Forbairt he will allow the same provisions in relation to allowing credit/entitlements for past overtime earnings. There are no staff in Forbairt who have Civil Service status but many staff enjoy salaries and conditions including superannuation similar to those in comparable grades in the Civil Service.
The Deputy should be aware that discussions regarding the implementation of a limited voluntary early retirement scheme in Forbairt have not been finalised. However, the position regarding the inclusion of overtime earnings in the calculation of superannuation benefits is that it is normal practice within the public sector to exclude such earnings when determining pensionable pay.
