94 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Health the additional smoking restrictions which he introduced in 1996; whether these restrictions apply to church owned parish social centres used for playing bridge; whether these restrictions have an EU origin; and if he will make a statement on the matter. With regard to additional smoking restrictions I refer the Deputy to my reply to a question on 12 December 1995, Official Report Volume 459 No. 6, columns 1123-1125. The type of premises mentioned in the question are covered by the new restrictions. The restrictions do not derive from EU requirements.
