43 Ms O'Donnell asked the Minister for Health if he is in a position to supply the information Deputy Liz O Donnell requested in Parliamentary Question No. 201 of 23 January 1996, regarding the number of children, by health board area, who were the subject of emergency care orders in each of the last three years; the number of places where such children can be placed by way of foster parents and residential care by health board areas; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5772/96]

The detailed information requested by the Deputy is set out in the following table.

As emergency care order only came into operation on 31 October last, I have included details of the number of children who were the subject of place of safety orders for each of the years 1993, 1994 and 1995.
