Vol. 463 No. 4

Written Answers. - Hospital Appointments.

Mary O'Rourke

Ceist:

89 Mrs. O'Rourke asked the Minister for Health if he will intervene directly to help a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath who had a critical operation 12 months ago and who was told on that occasion that he would be taken back for further necessary operations, but so far has not been recalled. [6661/96]

Limerick East): In all cases, appointments for medical treatment are allocated on the basis of medical priority. I am advised that the hospital in question taking into account the circumstances of the case referred to by the Deputy is not in a position, at this time, to give an exact date of admission.

If the person concerned feels his condition has deteriorated since he was last reviewed or warrants more urgent attention, he should contact his general practitioner who will be in the best position to take up the matter with the consultant concerned.
