139 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade if he will have arrangements made to provide some funding to repair Carrickarory Pier, Moville, County Donegal, immediately in order that the cruise liners which plan to use the Foyle River will be able to avail of this resource and thus provide substantial income to the area. There is no provision under my Department's vote for direct funding of the type suggested by the Deputy. I understand from Bord Fáilte that no detailed application to develop Carrickarory Pier has been submitted under the Operational Programme for Tourism, 1994 to 1999 or, to my knowledge, under other EU supported tourism programmes or measures. Any such application, of course, would have to be considered on the basis of the eligibility criteria of such programmes or measures and on the basis of the merits of the proposal in question.
