Vol. 463 No. 4

Written Answers. - Boat Grants.

Paul Bradford

Ceist:

142 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade if grant aid is available to upgrade boats for charter sea angling or to purchase new boats for this purpose. [6778/96]

Under the Operational Programme for Tourism 1994-1999, assistance is available for the purchase of new sea angling boats, subject to a maximum rate of 33 per cent of eligible costs, in important tourist angling areas. Assistance is available also for the conversion and upgrading or refurbishment costs of suitable sea angling boats of less than 15 years, subject to a maximum rate of 25 per cent of eligible costs, where the proprietors market their business to international visitors. Applications for assistance may be made through the local regional tourism organisation and final decisions on such projects are made by the independent management boards established under the operational programme.
