Frank Crowley

Ceist:

146 Mr. Crowley asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if a person (details supplied) in County Cork is eligible to receive funding from his Department's hardship fund. [6657/96]

Payment of reactor grants to the herdowner can be made on production by him of his tax reference number-RSI number and a statement by him that his tax affairs are in order.

Under the reactor grant arrangements income supplement is payable where disease breakdown results in the removal of more than 10 per cent of animals in a herd and where depopulation is not deemed appropriate. As a relatively small number of reactor animals have been removed from the herd concerned, income supplement is not applicable.

Non-reactor animals in a restricted herd may be sold by a herdowner to a meat plant on foot of a permit from the district veterinary office.
